"[ViaComp] did not only guide me to develop an interactive website, but helped me to
unleash the power of the Internet, and for that I am truly grateful."

Experience

It is difficult to convey the depth and breadth of our experience with only a list of technologies that we use, a list of successful projects, or a list of satisfied clients.  We've done a lot, we’ve had a lot of fun doing it, and we’ve been told that we've really made a difference to many organizations.  Below are some of our more “exciting” or “memorable” accomplishments.

  • Planning, setup, and onsite support for Microsoft Canada for several major trade shows (Windows World, Comdex, and Internet World) and product launches (Windows 98, Internet Explorer, and MSN Network) - You've got to know your stuff to keep over 100 computers up and running on a tradeshow floor - with several thousands of users over a single day, with software that is usually still in beta.
  • Setup and support for several major speeches by Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer - Right in the middle of one of Bill's speeches, his notebook died.  Of course, we had been following his presentation on a backup notebook behind the stage.  We ran out, swapped machines, and he was up and running again in no time.  We had saved the day for the world's richest man.
  • Design and development of the first searchable real estate web site in Canada - TorontoICI.com
  • Architected and developed an Internet-based voice messaging service that enabled users to deliver voice messages between Toronto and the Philipines for a fraction of the current long distance rates - We had plans to expand this to other destinations, but long distance rates dropeed (drastically) and the project was cancelled.  :(
  • Modified the above voice messaging service to deliver customized phone messages to season ticket holders of the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tigercats (with voice overs from several CFL superstars)
  • Development of an electronic purchase order tracking system for Microsoft that revolutionized the tracking of POs within the entire corporation
  • Created an automated Request For Proposal (RFP) application for Rogers that helped them to realize a savings of several days of work on the preparation of each and every RFP
  • Re-architected an Oracle query for a major client that reduced the processing of their month end reporting from over 32 days to less than 10 minutes
  • Launched DoNotBuyDodge.ca and attracted over 2.5 million visitors through aggressive search engine optimization and viral marketing techniques
